Camping Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts was created in 1967, in the wake of major accommodation infrastructure work related to the holding of the Universal Exhibition. A marshy area, located south of Lac des Sables, was backfilled to establish the campsite near downtown Sainte-Agathe and especially close to the lake and one of the municipal beaches.
